Volunteer

Volunteer

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission. Each year, volunteers donate countless hours to help us respond to the needs of youth in crisis. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and support of volunteers to further our mission and support the needs of our agency.

Because YES serves minors and young adults who come to us in crisis, we have limited opportunities for volunteers to work directly with our youth. Our youth come to us with issues such as neglect or abuse, sexual and gender identity issues, or substance abuse issues. YES requires that during normal operating hours, on-site volunteers be at least 21 years of age

Assist at the Street Outreach Center: Assist with day-to-day operations to help meet the needs of our youth! Groups can come on-site to help sort and organize donations, prepare hygiene kits, meals, or assist with facility clean up and upkeep.

The Street Outreach Center is open to group volunteers on Wednesdays, from 10 AM - 2 PM and the first Saturday of every month, from 10 AM – 12 PM. Contact YES’ Volunteer Coordinator, Angela Heim, to sign up.

Student Internships and Practicums

YES is happy to work with students interested in, or requiring intern or practicum hours to complete their educational requirements. YES offers un-paid internships within our Administrative Office and Street Outreach Center. Due to space limitations, we are unable to accept more than three students per semester. Please contact Angela Heim to set up an interview for program consideration.

Service Learning

Students required to complete service learning hours may do so to benefit YES by organizing a donation drive or fundraiser, preparing hygiene kits, making fleece blankets, or preparing food to be served to homeless youth. Because students are peers of the youth we serve, YES asks that service learning hours be completed off-site.
