Local Stars Dance for Homeless Youth

7/9/2010

Local stars are dancing the night away to help homeless and at-risk youth in a second annual fundraiser hosted by Youth Emergency Services (YES). The event, Dance for a Chance, is on Friday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the DC Centre located at 11830 Stonegate Drive in Omaha.

Dance for a Chance is an event similar to the television series, "Dancing with the Stars." Ten area stars will receive dance lessons from a professional dancer prior to performing with a partner at the fundraiser. These stars include: Kim Armstrong, Foundation Program Coordinator at Mutual of Omaha; Nick Bahe, the Schick and Nick Show; Chad Carr, President of Ticket Express; Kirsten Case-Penrod, Chief Service Officer for the city of Omaha; Anne Hindery, CEO of Non-profit Association of the Midlands; Mary Nelson, from KMTV’s The Morning Blend; Bo Ruud, former Husker football star; Adrian Whitsett, KETV news anchor; Belinda Wright, Miss Nebraska.

Judges will score the dancers the evening of the event, and the audience will decide the winner by voting for their favorite performer. Other stars involved in this event include Tiffany Campbell, former Husker Scarlets Dance Team; Gail DeBoer, SAC Credit Federal Union; Matt Schick, the Schick and Nick Show and KETV News Team; Shari Stone, the Big 101.9.
