A Safe Place to Stay
Safe Place helps young people find immediate safety when they need it most.
Safe Place is a national youth outreach and prevention program that connects youth in crisis with safe, supportive locations in their community. Across the Omaha metro, participating businesses and community organizations display the yellow Safe Place sign—letting youth know help is nearby.
As the Safe Place agency for the Omaha metro area, Youth Emergency Services (YES) partners with local organizations to recruit Safe Place sites, train staff, and ensure help is available when a young person asks for it.
How Safe Place Works
When a young person enters a Safe Place location and lets staff know they need help, the employee contacts trained professionals who respond right away.
From there, the youth can be connected with the support they need—whether that’s transportation to a safe location, crisis assistance, or access to additional services.
Safe Place locations help ensure safety is always within reach.

Safe Place works because of strong community partnerships. Businesses, libraries, and community organizations can become Safe Place sites by displaying the Safe Place sign and training staff to respond if a young person asks for help.
